Edit: ok, I think I see why. I think I was banned closer to when LF was founded, and in fact that's where I was banned. I initially thought it was like FYAD but for politics. I said that ugly women should be happy or appreciative or something when they are raped. They took me seriously and that was the last time I was a "goon."

ahahaha you dumb fat spic that isnt even close to why you were banned and dont even fucking pretend like you didnt know what LF was for and how sucking FYAD dick backfired on your space mountain riding ass

So once they run Linux into the ground and nobody wants to use it, what then? Their only way out of the hole they dug themselves would be proprietary ownership but they would have ruined what made linux appealing by declaring proprietary ownership.
Move onto the next target for hollowing out and start the exact same shit.
What's left to hollow out? Ruby is fagged up by them already, Windows and IOS won't be touched, Android is already pozzed.

I don't know what all this deep state shit is about, but whatever influence Something Awful had on the internet, I just don't see it today. What I see online is so foreign to my memories of SA from the sense of humor to the way people argue to the very way posts are organized and how moderation is carried out.

I may be seeing it from a different perspective because I never posted there again after I was banned, though.

So I'm comparing today to whatever era was before that.

Fake news story of the day. This could go in a couple of threads, but here's the initial NYT report:

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/21/us/politics/rod-rosenstein-wear-wire-25th-amendment.html

Quote
Mr. Rosenstein made the remarks about secretly recording Mr. Trump and about the 25th Amendment in meetings and conversations with other Justice Department and F.B.I. officials. Several people described the episodes, insisting on anonymity to discuss internal deliberations. The people were briefed either on the events themselves or on memos written by F.B.I. officials, including Andrew G. McCabe, then the acting bureau director, that documented Mr. Rosenstein’s actions and comments.

Pretty big stuff here. Note this is in the middle of the article:

Quote
“The New York Times’s story is inaccurate and factually incorrect,” he said in a statement. “I will not further comment on a story based on anonymous sources who are obviously biased against the department and are advancing their own personal agenda. But let me be clear about this: Based on my personal dealings with the president, there is no basis to invoke the 25th Amendment.”

A Justice Department spokeswoman also provided a statement from a person who was present when Mr. Rosenstein proposed wearing a wire. The person, who would not be named, acknowledged the remark but said Mr. Rosenstein made it sarcastically.

Like always, the true story came out a couple of hours later:

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/rosenstein-joked-about-secretly-recording-trump-say-sources-n911981

Quote
"Well, what do you want me to do, Andy, wear a wire?" Rosenstein asked at the meeting, which also included FBI lawyer Lisa Page and four career DOJ officials, according to the senior official. One of the career civil servants was Scott Schools, who would later go on to sign off on the firing of McCabe, the official said.

This official and a source who was in the room characterized Rosenstein's remark as sarcastic.

The senior official further said that the reference to invoking the Constitution to remove Trump comes from a post-meeting memo written by McCabe that said the deputy attorney general "raises 25th amendment" and that Page's notes from the same meeting do not contain any similar note.
