long story short, a twitter user with 6500 followers makes a bunch of BS tweets about floodings in NY, the media accepts it as the gospel truth and reports it. Best part of it all:

Without a hint of irony, an article about fake social media journalism quotes a website commenter who posts the name of a campaign manager that they say is responsible for it.
